Discover how to support the physical fitness of athletes, along with the treatment and prevention of injuries related to sports and exercise, when you take our Sports Medicine Fundamentals course. Contact sports, strenuous exercise, and team activities can easily lead to debilitating or painful injuries. This training provides the knowledge needed to support and treat an individual adversely affected by these physical exertions and wanting a quick recovery.
Whether you are a sports coach, a First Aider at a leisure centre, or a therapeutic practitioner, you will need to be aware of the specific conditions and injuries that affect sportspeople. With these educational and interactive modules, you will learn how to assess an athlete’s condition, the priority of an injury, and the proper rehabilitation that is needed for a full recovery. You will also learn how to advise them on fitness regimes and suggest preventive measures that can protect their well-being.
Please note that the Sports Medicine Fundamentals course offers extensive theoretical training and information regarding First Aid and medical treatments. However, it does not provide official qualifications for operating professionally or practising First Aid in an environment without consent and training. Always check legislation and protocols before attempting any medicinal treatment on an individual.
When you complete the learning modules in the Sports Medicine Fundamentals course, you will gain the practical knowledge and ability to provide diagnosis and medical treatments for athletes and those engaged in sporting activities. This can provide benefits when seeking to assume a role as a sports coach or First Aider at a leisure facility.       Â
This course is designed to provide a valuable introduction to First Aid in a sporting environment. It delivers an excellent way to gain the skills and knowledge needed to perform interim medical evaluation and treatment before professional involvement. Full-time and part-time learners are equally supported, and it can take just 20 to 30 hours to gain accreditation, with study periods being entirely customisable to your needs.
Assignments relating to First Aid treatments and common sports injuries will be given to all students and must be completed to pass the course successfully.
